Will the 2023 Lunar Eclipse be seen in Pakistan?

The year 2023 is about to come to a close with a celestial show, as the second and final lunar eclipse will dazzle the skies. This will be the last chance for skywatchers and astronomy devotees to see this spectacular celestial event of the year.

However, many people are wondering whether the lunar eclipse on October 28 would seen in Pakistan.

This astronomical event will be visible in numerous parts of the world, including Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, North America, North/East South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Arctic, and Antarctica.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) says that the lunar eclipse on October 28 will be visible in Pakistan.

The eclipse will begin in the early hours of Saturday at 11:02 PM local time, peak at 01:14 AM, and end at 03:26 AM on October 29 (Sunday), according to the PMD.

According to Earth Sky, the upcoming lunar eclipse will be a partial penumbral lunar eclipse.

This is the second and final lunar eclipse of 2023, happening only two weeks after the previous solar eclipse on October 14. The earlier lunar eclipse in 2023 occurred in early May.

Lunar eclipses are fascinating celestial events that occur when the Earth puts itself between the sun and the moon, producing a shadow on the moon’s surface. Lunar eclipses only occur during full moons, making for an amazing spectacle for skywatchers.

Subsequently, Lunar eclipses are classified into three categories based on how the Sun, Earth, and moon align during the event:

Total Lunar Eclipse: The Earth’s shadow completely covers the lunar surface.

Partial Lunar Eclipse: Only a piece of the moon penetrates the Earth’s shadow, indicating a “bite” out of the lunar surface.

Penumbral Lunar Eclipse: The faint outer edge of Earth’s shadow covers the lunar surface.
