Video messages are now available on WhatsApp, allowing users to send 60-second video messages.
Zuckerberg announced on Thursday that WhatsApp now has a new feature that makes it easier for people to communicate. Introducing WhatsApp Instant Video Messages, Meta CEO revealed that users will be able to record and share short, personal videos directly within WhatsApp Chat.
WhatsApp’s Instant video messages let you effortlessly respond to friends with minute-long videos during chat conversations, allowing you to communicate more expressively and authentically without elaborate stories or clips.
WhatsApp’s Video Message feature is now available for all users, but it will be available to everyone in upcoming app updates. With Instant Video messages, users can respond in 60 seconds to chats in real-time. Compared to Snapchat’s traditional video feature, these videos will be faster and be more conducive to conversation.
WaBetaInfo reports that the messaging app has submitted the update through the TestFlight beta program, bringing it to 23.15.1.76. WhatsApp Video messages are now available to more beta testers, and will be released to more people in the near future.
Here’s how you can send video messages on WhatsApp.
- Open WhatsApp and go to the chat with the person you want to send the video message to.
- Next to the text field, tap the microphone icon.
- You will see a video camera icon instead of a microphone icon. Start recording your video message by tapping the video camera icon.
- To record your WhatsApp video message, hold down the button.
- Keep your hands free and lock the recording with a swipe up.
- Release the button or swipe down to stop recording.
- Your WhatsApp video message will be sent to the recipient.
- Video messages will play automatically on mute when opened in a chat.
- Tap on the video to start video message sound.
WhatsApp video message can be no longer than one minute in duration. Furthermore, WhatsApp states that video communications are delivered using end-to-end encryption, ensuring the security of users’ chats.
In other news, WhatsApp has recently released new updates for iPhone users, in the IOS version 23.14.79. Transfer chat, video calls in landscape mode, improvements to the GIF and Avatar tray, and other features were added to the platform. While all of these updates strengthen and enhance the platform, the transfer chat feature is especially highlighted.
With the new Transfer feature, WhatsApp now allows iOS users to directly move their conversation history, including messages, media, and settings, from an old iPhone to a new one with the new move feature. Users no longer need to rely on iCloud or local backup to transmit their WhatsApp chat history. All WhatsApp users on iOS 15 and later may utilise the functionality.
