Six people lost their lives in a helicopter crash near Mount Everest

The helicopter was operated by Manang Air, which specializes in providing tourists with breathtaking views of Nepal’s awe-inspiring peaks, including Mount Everest, which is the world’s tallest peak.
Teknath Sitoula, a spokesperson for Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, said the ill-fated helicopter carried five Mexican passengers and a Nepali pilot. It took off from the Solukhumbu district, home to Mount Everest, at 10:05 a.m. Tuesday morning (12:20 a.m. ET), heading for the capital city, Kathmandu.
At 10:13 a.m., the helicopter lost communication less than 10 minutes after takeoff. The wreckage was discovered in Likhupike, a rural municipality in Solukhumbu. Residents and police who arrived at the crash site saw the lifeless bodies of all passengers.
The recovery process has begun to transport the victims’ remains to Kathmandu. The bodies need to be transported by road and then flown to the capital, Sitoula said. A thorough investigation will be conducted by the authorities to uncover the cause of this tragic accident.
Due to its inclement weather, low visibility, and mountainous terrain, Nepal is notoriously dangerous for aviation.
