On Tuesday, the Cabinet Division announced that the government would grant a three-day holiday for Eid ul Adha, which will be celebrated on June 29.
The Prime Minister has approved the following public holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha:
- The 29th and 30th of June, 2023 (Thursday and Friday) for offices observing five-day weeks;
- From 29th June to 1st July, 2023 (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) for offices observing six days of work.”
As announced a day earlier by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Eid ul Adha will be celebrated across Pakistan on June 29 (Thursday).
Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, the chairman of the moon sighting committee, announced the decision
A number of cities, including Karachi, Lahore, and others, reported sightings of the moon, according to the chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal committee.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, SUPARCO, Department of Meteorology, and Ministry of Science and Technology.
Ruet-e-Hilal’s zonal committees that met in their respective cities also contributed to the decision.
