Babar Azam’s August journey was dominated by rivalry with West Indies batsman Nicholas Pooran. He won the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for August 2023 despite facing a formidable challenge.
Babar Azam’s Exceptional Month
Babar’s outstanding form extended beyond the series, as he started the Asia Cup with a bang. He scored 151 runs off 131 balls in the tournament opener against Nepal. Having scored 31 centuries for Pakistan across all formats, he is on par with legends like Javed Miandad and Saeed Anwar. For Pakistan, he ranks just behind Younis Khan (41), Mohammad Yousuf (39), and Inzamam-ul-Haq (35).
